The importance of health insurance coverage in surrogacy.

When embarking on an IVF/surrogacy program, A crucial area of concern is responsibility for any medical expenses that may arise.

Usually, the intended parents are responsible for all medical expenses incurred during the IVF.SURROGACY progress.

Surrogacy is gradually evolving and not yet regulated in Nigeria. There is more  to be done in ensuring that adequate medical healthcare is provided for the surrogate mother and child during pregnancy and after birth.

Most of the time. After the surrogate mother gives bith safely. There are no expenses to be made by the intended parents towards post natal care by the clinic as the cost of Delivery also covers the surrogate mother's postnatal care.

In rare instances, a surrogate mother may develop complications, which  will require corrective surgery even after years of giving birth, as is the case of a surrogate mother, and a surrogacy agency based in Lagos.

Such problems can be avoided if couples who opt for surrogacy to become parents purchase general health insurance coverage that lasts for 3 years for the surrogate mother.

This will exempt the surrogacy agency, intended parents, or clinic from any liability. As a result, it's essential that the surrogacy agreement include provisions for surrogacy medical coverage.
