Five reasons intended parents fail to claim their babies after delivery

There are occasions where an intended parent fails or is unable to claim their child after delivery. It is very important before embarking  on a surrogacy arrangement to plan your availability at the time of delivery.

Below are 5 reasons why an intended parent might be  unavailable during and most times after delivery to claim their child provided every other thing goes as planned

(1) Time: Some intended parents fail to plan their time properly. Most especially those living in countries far away from where the IVF was carried out, thereby being unavailable during delivery.

(2) Finance : As we all know how SURROGACY/IVF can be costly, running into tens of thousands of dollars. It is not always a good idea to start the surrogacy process without a  plan on how to get the needed fund for the process.

So due to financial constraints, the intended period might be unable to meet up at the expected time of delivery

(3)Death: An intended parent(s) may die,and in such circumstance is unable to claim their baby at delivery. The solution to this predicament is to contact the next of kin of the intended parent as written in the contract (whom must be aware of the arrangement)

(4) Divorce: A messy divorce could create problems when the husband or wife tries to claim custody of the child. It might lead to a protracted legal tussle

(5) Immigration laws : Immigration laws of certain countries do not recognize surrogacy as a form of reproduction and will not transfer citizenship of a child born out of SUURROGACY/IVF from parent to child thereby frustrating the process of the intended parent laying claim to their baby.

(6) Abandonment: This happens when an intended parent after hurdling through the process of IVF and gestational surrogacy just decides to abandon the whole process entirely and does not come forward to claim their baby.
